Accessing your files in a convenient manner is very important. But sometimes you need to do huge uploads/downloads of server worlds, plugins, or mods. This is where an FTP program would come in handy, and we will show you how to set up 2 of the most popular FTP programs. WinSCP and Filezilla.
Connecting with WinSCP
1. Download and install the latest release of WinSCP for your system.
2. Head over to your server panel, and navigate to the "settings" tab on your server. There you will see your FTP login information displayed.
Note: For WinSCP, my host name would be usfnt3.astral-services.net, ignoring the "sftp://" portion as that is just defining the transfer protocol we use. My port would be 2022.
3. Open WinSCP, and you should be greeted with a dialog box that asks for your login information. Make sure the file protocol "SFTP" is selected, and enter the information shown on your panel. Your password is the same password you log into our panel.
Note: If either your username or password is changed for any reason, you will need to update your logins on WinSCP as well.
4. Hit "Save" if you would like WinSCP to save your login information for quick access, or "Login" to proceed without saving.
You should be able to see all of your server files now. If you are getting any errors, double check if everything is typed correctly as the panel has provided.
Connecting with FileZilla
1. Download and install the latest release of FileZilla for your system.
2. Head over to your server panel, and navigate to the "settings" tab on your server. There you will see your FTP login information displayed.
Note: For FileZilla, my host name would be sftp://usfnt3.astral-services.net, as FileZilla needs to have the protocol type defined in the host name. My port would be 2022.
3. Open FileZilla, and enter the information shown on your panel on the top of the application.
4. Hit "Quickconnect" to connect to your server.
5. [Optional] If you would like FileZilla to save your login information, navigate to File > Site Manager on the top bar. Then hit "New Site" and fill out your login information.
Note: If either your username or password is changed for any reason, you will need to update your logins on FileZilla as well.
You should be able to see all of your server files now. If you are getting any errors, double check if everything is typed correctly as the panel has provided.
